In real life the first made M-16s were okay. They jammed frequently, ought to the wrong powder being put in it and when it first came to Vietnam people thought that it wouldn't have to be cleaned. The newer versions of it didn't jam often because they replaced the ball powder with the original DuPont IMR powder and had a 30 round clip. They replaced the M-14 as the standard rifle for all infantry, due to it's lower cost, lighter weight, less kickback,and a faster rate of fire.
