Recon:Mk 2 grenade
Grenades are essential to win against large enemy forces. They will only explode upon touching the ground, although they can deviate about 30 degrees or so to either side. The explosion can kill enemies inside the blast radius, and can destroy assets.
Hand grenades were important tools for self-defense and for breaking contact. The earlier “lemon grenades” included the M26, M26A1, M26A2,7 M57, and M61, and they remained in use throughout the war. In 1967 the “baseball grenades” made their appearance; the M33, M59, M67, and M68. The M57, M61, M67, and M68 were identical to the M26A2, M26A1, M33, and M59, respectively, with the addition of safety clips. The wire clip was rotated to allow the arming lever to fly off once the arming pin was pulled and the grenade thrown. It helped prevent accidents if the grenade was inadvertently dropped.
