'Dac Cong' in Vietnamese means 'spec-ops'. 'Dac'='special', 'Cong'='soldiers', 'operatists'
 
In Vietnam is known for accomplishing sabotage missions, infiltration and distraction missions, in which their goals are to maximize damage to enemy forces, and survival is secondary. Mostly in offensive forces. Survival rate (recorded): close to none.
 
Trained in infiltration (waterborn,=swimming), tunneling, placing charges and 'triple-tap'ing, knife fighting.
 
In combat, often tasked to tunnel/infiltrate into the core of enemy bases and wreak-havok, creating distractions for friendly forces to storm the bases.

The Dac Cong were a detachment of specialist sappers employed by the VC and the NVA. The units were trained to fight as infiltrators and saboteurs and armed accordingly with a wide variety of explosives. The units were poorly equipped to fight as assault troops, or to withstand general combat at all, but the VC guerrilla tactics allowed the units to cause devastating casualties to US and ARVN troops during successful raids. Dac Cong proved to be highly effective during the final spring offensive of 1975 by destroying several key assets of the defenders such as bridges, command posts and watercraft.
