The AK-47 is an Eastern Bloc assault rifle. It has fairly high damage, but is weak in every other category. Therefore, it is recommended not to use this weapon unless you have to. The Stoner 63 beats it in every category except for damage which is 10 lower than the AK-47, and tied at 5 for rate of fire. Soldiers using this gun should have a high stealth and spot value to be able to sneak up on hostiles undetected, due to its rather low effective range. It can be a better choice than the M16 based on the jam chance alone, but generally the AK47 is an underperforming rifle.
The AK-47 was a cheap, mass-produced, fully-automatic weapon of the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China (whom later modified and produced the rifle under license as the Type 56). Said nations provided the weapon to the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the Vietcong (VC) in order to support the communist movement against the capitalist South Vietnam. The firearm was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov and modeled after the German StG 44. The AK-47 proved itself to be a highly reliable weapon, it's main advantage over the American (M16). Approximately 75 million AK-47's have been produced since 1949.
