DescriptionA rear guard units are usually weapon systems or soldiers whose main role is not to be in the thick of the fight but to stay behind and perform their duties from a safe distance. Important soldiers or long range/indirect weapon systems usually have this particularity. When adequately protected by more mobile units these soldiers or weapon systems are usually the straw that breaks the enemy's back. This type of unit is usually a moderate challenge for commanders since proper management of the battle space must be achieved to ensure the safety of such units. Such unit when engaged by direct fire have minimal chances of survival compared to conventional elements. Rear guards are also useful taking out brandenburgers
