I was just playin it and my sniper with a fanatical morale was killed by arty and my fucking gunner or medic decided to panic run straight into artillery.

    • O_O i just went through hell to get past one level of the hedgerows, things like me throwing my grenade, then it not getting thrown, so when i try to reselect the grenade, i just grenaded half of my squad. It was literally 2 fully maxed out riflemen (with the bonuses from supply drops) and an almost maxed signaller. Oof

Is Hedgerows the first map where things get serious and fucked up. I’ve been URB’d the most on that one.

    • yeah, I’ve been playing hedgerows and Im always getting rekt by the explosives and constant reinforcements from the north and from the trucks. I think hedgerows is at least two or three times more difficult than the beginning. GL!

  • Did the Rangers ever escort like another team of Rangers or any other type of U.S. Force to an objective. I think it would be pretty cool if we could secure an LZ for a Marine Platoon insertion as a mission. Just like Breach/Bypass the Rangers will deploy at the insertion point at the the bottom of the map and work their way to a randomly marked…[Read more]

And I got URB’d…….It said 2 hostiles in the vicinity, but it turned out actually to be a section or platoon of VC. Well….Looks like I’m gonna throw the Firebase missions out of the to-do-list for a while.

Holy Shit I was lucky. My Sergeant with 4 Spot was hit by a MG, but he wasn’t critically wounded and he managed to one shot the guy on the turret.

Should I put my men on the sandbag walls during the Defend or Attack missions? I’m nervous about keeping my men in the middle of the base where there’s not that much cover half of the time.

    • For Firebase Attack Mission stay on the walls since they do provide a bit of bullet miss chance.
For Firebase Defense it is almost essential to place at least 2 men right on top of the table in the middle since in case a single enemy gets there you will lose the mission.

    • Here’s my strategy in the defend firebase mission:

Step 1: Place mines, check the perimeter for VC stationaries.

Step 2: Dash to the middle, grab the intel, and rush out.

Step 3: Quickly throw a grenade or two into the intel table, blowing it up and creating craters (as far as I know, these provide cover).

Step 4: Load my men into the…[Read more]

I might try these suggestions and test which one of them can be extremely useful for me…..especially on that one hellhole of a map.

  • The Pig posted an update 6 days, 9 hours ago

I made a few notes or ideas on squad composition and I though about these.

    RANGERS: 1 Medic, 1 Sig, 1 Officer, 1 Demo, 1 Sniper, and 1 Infantry.

CREEPING BARRAGE TEAM: 1 Scout, 1 Medic, 1 Sig, and 3 Infantry.

I made more notes, but I’m deciding on testing them in the game. These are the only two compositions that I’m thinking of using the most.

    • Looks noice. May I make two suggestions:

DEEP STRIKING SQUAD: 1 Officer. 1 Medic. 1 Marksman. 1 RTO. 1 Spotter. 2 Commandos.
      SHOCKTROOPERS TEAM: 1 Gunner. 2 Rifleman. 1 Commando. 1 Engineer. 1 Medic.

    • Creeping barrage could use a mortar or two imo (gunners)

Oh yeah, Kacpo sorry about sending you a private message instead of putting it in the forum.

    • Alright so I would risk bringing a high skilled RTO and bringing in fresh rangers for simple missions like recce and BDA (Use bird dog so you dont get shredded and find it easily) If that is what your looking for in terms of answers.

Ok, anybody got advice on Squad management. I don’t want to have my highly experienced squad URB’d on a low heat mission for some damn reason, but at the same time I want most of my fresh rangers get to at least Private or Corporal.

    • Just take high exp RTO, and all fresh. then everything will fine, just keep calm and slow. ( For low heat mission )

Avoid Dead Drop mission. then they will be fine.

I got a damn VC Officer at 6% Heat! What the hell.

@lance I’m gettin something wrong with breach. It’s not the bypass, it’s extracting. Am I supposed to extract on the other side of the map or extract at LZ without being noticed.

It would be pretty cool if you could somehow link your experienced rangers to the steam version and in my opinion it would be pretty awesome for a mission where you are to insert with another team and get them to their objective. I would call the mission “Security Detail”. I bet you guys have better ideas than this one.

  • I’m confused on what kill cards are required for certain missions and the ones you can use at anytime. I really want to know what mission the Kit Carson Scout card helps with.

@lance You got any tips on breach in Recon. I’m always afraid to do the mission when it comes up, but I have to do it right now.

    • Use flak jacket and Ho chi Minh sandals

      Armored Stealthy bois

    • If you want to survive: get combat team with good radioman.
If you want to win that mission, use the stealthiest boys you have, give them the lighest guns you have, take your time and pray not to get spotted.

    • Here’s how I do breach missions. Get heat to 0 (I’m not sure what the cutoff is, maybe 5-10 will do), and go to the very right of the map. Sneak across the defense line there, as there are no defenses there at low heat.

      • Low heat. Right side of AO. In line positioning with max SPOT first. Items= Smoke. Low Bulk. Sandals if possible.
As in my vid. Night insertion is great.
If you feel lucky like I did hit the Overt Skull to run faster.
Beware that afterwards your Rangers will have very high Fatigue if you run a lot.
        Have fun!
