Just some questions for your very fine strategy.
I’ve used regular grunts or engineers with carbines to take care of bottomburgers, they seem to take care of one in 2-3 shots when ranked up, then the target-switching moves them on to the next one. I agree with Reid. I had thought about this same idea when the problem with saving everything in the entire world was an issue. Also, I think that a player can set a camp (either manually or by putting up a shelter or cabin). Then the game could save everything within so many screens in each direction to remember your base camp area.
Lucky me: 2 V1 blitzes (seriously) right about wave 60. A little late to order a sig, but I tried.
