So I had the idea that maybe overflight could be changed so as an option before missions you could do an overflight of the AO, consuming one day and adding some heat and/or increasing the number of VC in the AO and the size of the QRF. The current ‘Overflight’ killcard could be renamed to something along the lines of ‘Field Intelligence’ but otherwise remain the same, revealing some assets with no consequences beyond the use of the kill card. I think this could help with some of the frustration of the occasions that Bird Dog is uncooperative and searching the AO for 30+ minutes is not a very attractive proposition for many people.
I believe the theory behind “overflight” is that the team leader instructs the Huey pilots to make a run around the AO while they spot critical locations on the ground before landing. That being said, perhaps it should add some heat, that’s a good idea.
